Initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing additional maturation in Chinquapin virgin oak casks sourced from the Northern Ozark region of Missouri, this whisky delivers a rich balance of sweet spice, citrus and toasted oak influence. Bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill filtered and with natural colour, it showcases GlenAllachie’s modern wood management philosophy under Master Distiller Billy Walker.

The Virgin Oak Series was created to explore the impact of different oak species on GlenAllachie’s rich and fruity spirit character. Chinquapin oak, rarely used in Scotch whisky maturation, is known for imparting intense spice, toasted sweetness and vibrant citrus complexity. The casks used for this release were air-dried for almost four years and toasted to a medium level before maturation, contributing exceptional depth and structure to the whisky.

Tasting Notes:
A richly spiced and warming dram with layers of heather honey, orange zest and toasted pecans on the nose. The palate reveals notes of cinnamon, butterscotch, barley sugar and roasted biscuits balanced by vibrant citrus peel, gentle oak spice and sweet malt richness. The finish is long and warming, carrying lingering notes of sweet spice, honey and toasted oak.
