Named after the historic Boynsmill House, where founder James Allardice established The Glendronach in 1826, this commemorative expression brings together two centuries of Highland whisky heritage with the distillery’s unmistakably rich, sherry-driven style. Matured in exceptional Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks alongside a carefully selected parcel of Claret wine casks, it delivers a beautifully layered combination of dark fruits, nuts, chocolate and elegant red-fruit character.

Founded in 1826 by James Allardice, The Glendronach has built its reputation around richly textured Highland single malt and exceptional sherry-cask maturation. Boynsmill House sits at the heart of that history, with Allardice renowned for entertaining guests there and sharing both whisky and fine wines. For the distillery’s bicentenary, Master Blender Rachel Barrie has paid tribute to that tradition by complementing The Glendronach’s classic Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry maturation with select Claret casks. The result retains the deep, luxurious character associated with The Glendronach while introducing an additional layer of vibrant fruit and refined wine-cask structure.

Tasting Notes:
The aroma opens with a generous medley of fruit and nuts, with Highland toffee wrapped around juicy bramble, ripe peach and plum. Hazelnuts and raisins add richness, while darker berry notes hint at the influence of the Claret casks. The palate is plush and beautifully rounded, combining ripe malt with layers of dried fruits, roasted nuts and rich sherry sweetness. Velvety chocolate and caramel develop through the mid-palate alongside black cherry, dark berries and gentle spice. The finish is rich and lingering, with chocolate caramel, dark fruits and warming spice gradually giving way to subtle tannins and a refined, fruit-driven sweetness.
