Inspired by the elegance, romance and culinary traditions of Venice, this expression combines The Glendronach’s signature Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry cask maturation with the distinctive influence of Italian Amarone red wine casks. Bottled at 46% ABV, The Venetian Room delivers a decadent combination of dark cherries, red fruits, chocolate and nuts, bringing an Italian-inspired dimension to the unmistakably rich Glendronach house style.

Founded in 1826, The Glendronach has built its reputation around richly textured Highland single malt and exceptional sherry-cask maturation. The House Editions collection explores this heritage through a series of city-inspired expressions created by Master Blender Rachel Barrie. The Venetian Room takes its inspiration from Venice, introducing Italian Amarone red wine casks alongside the distillery’s traditional Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry maturation. Amarone’s intensely concentrated fruit character works beautifully with The Glendronach’s robust spirit, adding layers of dark berries, cherries and chocolate while retaining the rich sherry character at the heart of the whisky.

Tasting Notes:
The aroma is wonderfully decadent, opening with dark cherries, blackcurrants and dates alongside layers of tiramisu, cocoa, amaretti and soft vanilla. The palate becomes increasingly indulgent, with ripe red plum and maraschino cherry complemented by almond liqueur, hazelnut chocolate and the rich fruit-and-chocolate character of Black Forest gateau. The combination of sherry and Amarone casks creates an impressive balance between dark fruit, sweetness and gentle nuttiness. The finish is long and luxurious, with lingering forest fruits and hazelnut cream developing into rich macchiato caramel, leaving a beautifully sweet, fruit-driven and distinctly Italian-inspired final impression.
