Released in 2024, Batch 10 continues the evolution of the series with a carefully balanced combination of coastal peat smoke, oily texture and vibrant citrus complexity. Matured predominantly in Bourbon casks with a portion of Sherry cask influence, this limited annual release delivers exceptional depth while maintaining the distillery’s signature maritime style.

The Kilkerran Heavily Peated series was created to showcase a more robust peated style from Campbeltown, while still preserving the traditional oily and mineral-driven profile that defines Kilkerran whisky. Produced at the historic Glengyle Distillery, which was revived by the Mitchell family in 2004, the series has developed a cult following due to its balance of smoke, coastal influence and exceptional quality relative to many heavily peated Scotch whiskies.

Tasting Notes:
The influence of bourbon oak immediately presents a remarkably clean and expressive profile on the nose. Powerful peat smoke is balanced by rich creamy notes reminiscent of cream soda, buttery shortbread and vanilla cream, followed by layers of banana cake, toasted coconut and subtle honeyed sweetness. As the whisky develops in the glass, lightly tropical nuances emerge alongside gentle coastal salinity, evoking similarities to modern Bowmore-style elegance while maintaining Kilkerran’s firmer peated identity.

The palate is oily, rich and full-bodied, delivering waves of peat smoke intertwined with mango, lime zest and pink grapefruit. Notes of honey and caramel provide balance before the whisky transitions into drier charred herbs, toasted oak and earthy spice. A slightly tannic edge adds structure and depth without overpowering the spirit’s vibrant citrus and maritime character.

The finish is long and warming, carrying lingering peat embers, black peppercorns, charred rosemary and fading coastal smoke with exceptional persistence and complexity.
