This creates an interesting combination of American and French oak. Baked American Pure contributes classic sweet bourbon notes such as vanilla, caramel and brown sugar, while Seared French Cuvée adds toasted oak and further caramelised nuances.

The three Maker’s 46 staves play an important role as well. Maker’s 46 is known for its finish with seared French oak, which adds additional depth, vanilla and spice.

The darker elements then come into play. Roasted French Mendiant is designed to contribute notes of milk chocolate, nuts and dried dark fruit. The name itself refers to a classic French confection in which chocolate, dried fruit and nuts take centre stage.

The final stave profile, Toasted French Spice, adds smoky and spicy nuances. Together with the three Maker’s 46 staves, it gives Inferno a more intense and warming dimension.

A Bourbon for the Curious

On the nose, you can expect a combination of sweetness, vanilla, caramelised oak and darker fruit notes, followed by chocolate, spices and toasted wood. On the palate, the profile becomes richer and more concentrated, with the bourbon’s natural sweetness meeting French oak, dark fruit and warming spices.

At 55.4% ABV, Inferno has plenty of power. It is perfectly suited to drinking neat, but it is also well worth exploring with a few drops of water. At higher strengths, even a small amount of water can alter the balance and reveal new aromatic layers.
