Founded in Belgium, Malternative Belgium is an independent bottler and négociant specialising in exceptional Cognac sourced from both established houses and small grower-producers throughout the region. Their philosophy centres on discovering distinctive parcels with genuine provenance, character and a strong connection to their terroir. No.49 takes the name “La Signature” — The Signature — representing a Cognac that, after more than five decades of maturation, has reached a point where both producer and bottler are prepared to place their signature behind the finished spirit. This release originates from Archiac in Petite Champagne, an area associated with exceptional Cognac production and long-term maturation potential.

Tasting Notes:
Deep aromas of old oak, dried flowers, fig paste and orange marmalade unfold alongside creamy nuts and delicate spices, developing notes of candied citrus peel and subtle mocha with time in the glass. The palate is rich and beautifully balanced, combining pomelo and gentle mandarin bitterness with stewed fruits, dates, black tea and fine spice. Mature oak provides structure and grip while a fresh, almost balsamic character maintains remarkable vibrancy after decades of maturation. The finish is long and harmonious, lingering with fresh spice, soft honey, dark cherry preserve and concentrated fruit syrup before fading into an elegant, warming complexity.
