The Michiel Wigman 1996 Ben Nevis 28 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a highly sought-after Highland release distilled in December 1996 and matured for 28 years before bottling in 2024. Drawn from a single hogshead cask and bottled at natural cask strength, this exceptional Ben Nevis captures the rich, waxy and characterful style that has made 1990s Ben Nevis releases legendary among whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. With only 157 bottles produced, this is an extremely limited single cask release.

This bottling forms part of Michiel Wigman’s acclaimed independent whisky releases under the Dutch Whisky Connection banner. Known for selecting old-style, character-driven casks inspired by the great whiskies of the 1950s to 1970s, Wigman’s releases have developed a cult following amongst collectors for their authenticity, careful cask selection and distinctive presentation. The “Gems Of Scotland” series celebrates exceptional single cask Scotch whiskies that showcase the individuality and depth of some of Scotland’s most revered distilleries.
Tasting Notes:
Rich and oily with layers of dried fruits, dark chocolate and waxy malt balanced by citrus peel, old oak and gentle spice. Notes of honey, cooked orchard fruits and subtle earthy minerality develop alongside hints of leather and roasted nuts. The finish is long, complex and warming, carrying lingering malt sweetness, elegant oak influence and the unmistakable character of mature Ben Nevis whisky.
