The Michiel Wigman 2008 Ledaig 17 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a bold and characterful Island malt distilled at Tobermory Distillery and bottled under the renowned independent label of Michiel Wigman. Distilled in February 2008 and matured for 17 years before bottling in April 2025, this limited single cask release captures the unmistakable maritime peat style that has made Ledaig one of the most sought-after peated whiskies from the Islands. Bottled at natural cask strength, this is an exceptional release for collectors and lovers of heavily character-driven Scotch whisky.

This bottling forms part of Michiel Wigman’s “Gems of Scotland” series, a collection celebrated among enthusiasts for its carefully selected single cask whiskies and distinctive artistic presentation. Michiel Wigman has built a strong reputation within the independent bottling scene for sourcing highly individual casks that emphasise distillery character, complexity and authenticity.
Tasting Notes:
Rich peat smoke and coastal salinity immediately rise from the glass, balanced by notes of dark chocolate, cooked fruits and citrus oils. Layers of smoked herbs, coal smoke and earthy malt unfold alongside honey sweetness and subtle spice. The palate is oily and full-bodied, delivering charred oak, kipper smoke, dried fruits and warming pepper, before a long maritime finish with lingering peat embers and savoury complexity.
