PK Maltroom & LMK Copycat 1988 Blended 36 Year Old Single Cask Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

A remarkable piece of Scotch whisky history, this 1988 vintage Blended Scotch Whisky represents nearly four decades of patient maturation, exceptional cask preservation and the art of independent whisky selection. Bottled exclusively for PK Maltroom & LMK Copycat as part of the Folklore Echoes series, this extraordinary 38 Year Old expression was drawn from a single Refill Barrel, Cask #500507, yielding just 120 bottles worldwide.

Bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.1% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring, this is an exceptionally limited expression that celebrates the character of long-aged Scotch whisky. With fewer than 150 bottles produced, it represents a compelling opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a distinctive whisky from the celebrated 1988 vintage.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: A beautifully mature and inviting aroma, opening with creamy vanilla, fresh butter and delicate cereal sweetness. Soft notes of honey, golden syrup and light oak emerge gradually, accompanied by hints of polished wood and gentle spice. The overall impression is wonderfully rounded, with the elegance and subtle complexity expected from a whisky of considerable age.

Palate: Rich, creamy and generously textured, with layers of vanilla custard, cane sugar and buttery caramel. A subtle rum-like sweetness develops alongside mellow oak, toasted cereal and delicate warming spice. The whisky displays a lovely balance between sweetness and maturity, while its natural cask strength introduces a more assertive warmth towards the latter stages of the palate.

Finish: Warming and gently drying, with lingering vanilla, sweet cereal, light caramel and seasoned oak. A touch of peppery spice develops towards the end, leaving a pleasantly mature and subtly bittersweet impression.
