Released as part of Signatory Vintage’s prestigious Cask Strength Collection – Symington’s Choice, this remarkable single cask was matured in a 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt, combining Auchentoshan’s famously elegant triple-distilled spirit with the rich fruit, nutty depth and spice of active Oloroso maturation. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.6%, with a limited outturn of just 689 bottles, this is a beautifully mature and highly collectible interpretation of Auchentoshan with considerable sherry-driven richness.

Symington’s Choice represents a particularly prestigious selection within the Cask Strength Collection, showcasing individual casks selected by Signatory founder Andrew Symington. Auchentoshan is particularly distinctive amongst Scottish distilleries for its traditional use of triple distillation, producing a lighter and more refined spirit. Extended maturation in a First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt provides a fascinating contrast, adding considerable dark fruit, chocolate and nutty richness while retaining elements of the distillery’s elegant Lowland character.

Tasting Notes:
The aroma opens with an intriguing freshness, as vibrant lemongrass meets the warm richness of roasted hazelnuts and the delicate sweetness of dark cherries. Deeper sherry character gradually emerges underneath, with dried fruits, cocoa and subtle spice adding complexity to the lighter citrus notes. The palate is powerful and richly textured, with juicy blackberries combining with the distinctive structure of walnuts, while nutmeg introduces a beautifully balanced warmth. Dark chocolate, mature Oloroso richness and seasoned oak provide additional depth without completely overwhelming the underlying spirit. The finish is long and refined, carried by lingering almond and dark fruits alongside gentle sherry sweetness, subtle oak and warming spice.
