Signatory Vintage 1976 Cameronbridge 50 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky is an extraordinary expression of Scottish whisky craftsmanship, distilled on 7 April 1976 and bottled in 2026 after an astonishing five decades of maturation. Released as part of Signatory Vintage’s prestigious Cask Strength Collection to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Kirsch Import, this remarkable single cask originates from Cameronbridge, one of Scotland’s oldest and most historically significant grain whisky distilleries. Matured for half a century in Hogshead #900010, the whisky has developed exceptional richness and elegance, combining delicate vanilla, creamy caramel, golden honey and beautifully integrated oak. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 47.1% ABV, with an extremely limited outturn of just 243 bottles worldwide, this is a remarkable example of the extraordinary ageing potential of traditional Scottish single grain whisky. A truly special release that brings together historical significance, exceptional maturity and the refined complexity of five decades spent in oak.

Founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington, Signatory Vintage has established itself as one of Scotland’s most respected independent bottlers, renowned for selecting exceptional individual casks and presenting whisky with minimal intervention. This extraordinary 1976 Cameronbridge was selected to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kirsch Import, the renowned German whisky importer whose history began in the same year this whisky was distilled. Cameronbridge Distillery itself was established in 1824 by John Haig in Fife and holds a particularly important place in the development of Scottish grain whisky, pioneering continuous distillation techniques that helped transform the Scotch whisky industry. Unlike traditional single malt distilleries, Cameronbridge produces grain whisky using continuous stills, creating a spirit renowned for its elegant texture, delicate sweetness and remarkable ability to develop complexity through extended maturation. After 50 years in a single hogshead, this exceptional release demonstrates the extraordinary potential of mature grain whisky, transforming its naturally approachable character into a sophisticated expression of vanilla, honeyed sweetness, rich caramel and beautifully integrated oak. A rare opportunity to experience half a century of Scottish distilling history in a single glass.

Tasting Notes:

The aroma is beautifully refined and expressive, opening with delicate vanilla and creamy caramel, accompanied by the gentle sweetness of golden honey. Subtle cereal and malty notes gradually emerge beneath the richer elements, adding depth and complexity to the elegant bouquet. The palate is wonderfully smooth and full-bodied, revealing layers of rich caramel, creamy vanilla and sweet grain character, beautifully complemented by the influence of five decades in oak. Gentle oak spice introduces structure and balance, while hints of ripe fruit and honeyed sweetness bring additional richness to the beautifully rounded texture. Despite its extraordinary age, the whisky retains a remarkable sense of harmony, with the mature oak influence enhancing rather than overwhelming its naturally delicate character. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant, with lingering honey, soft caramel and creamy vanilla gradually giving way to subtle seasoned oak and a refined, gently warming spice. A wonderfully composed and sophisticated expression that demonstrates the remarkable complexity and elegance achievable through 50 years of patient maturation.
