Released as part of Signatory Vintage’s prestigious 30th Anniversary collection, this remarkable whisky was drawn from a single Refill Sherry Butt, Cask #2533, and bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.7% ABV. Limited to just 530 bottles worldwide, this special presentation is housed in an anniversary wooden box and includes two matching glasses. Mature Glenlossie of this age is rarely seen, and this release beautifully combines the distillery’s elegant fruit character with decades of refill sherry maturation, producing a whisky of remarkable complexity, depth and old-school Speyside character.

Founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington, Signatory Vintage has become one of Scotland’s most respected independent bottlers, renowned for preserving distinctive single casks and releasing them with minimal intervention. The 30th Anniversary collection was created in 2018 to mark three decades of Signatory Vintage and featured a specially selected range of mature and increasingly rare whiskies. Glenlossie, founded in 1876 near Elgin, is known for producing an elegant, fruity and subtly floral Speyside spirit, although the majority of its production has historically been destined for blending. As a result, long-aged single-cask Glenlossie releases are comparatively uncommon. This 1984 cask demonstrates how beautifully the distillery can develop over extended maturation, retaining fruit and freshness while building waxy, nutty, earthy and savoury complexity.

Tasting Notes:

The aroma is wonderfully complex and mature, opening with dried apricots, ripe peaches and honeydew melon alongside chestnuts, black tea and delicate old oak. With time, deeper savoury notes emerge, including dried mushrooms, herbal bitters and a subtle nuttiness, while honey and soft sherry sweetness provide balance. The palate is rich and highly distinctive, with dried fruits, waxy malt and roasted nuts joined by earthy umami notes, gentle citrus and restrained wood smoke. Subtle spice and mineral character build through the middle, creating impressive depth without overpowering the fruit. The finish is long, warming and beautifully layered, with lingering almonds, honeyed fruit, gentle smoke and savoury sherry character gradually fading into elegant oak and soft spice.
