This 16 Year Old release demonstrates how beautifully Aultmore’s elegant character responds to extended maturation in First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts, developing considerable richness while retaining the distillery’s underlying malty sweetness and orchard-fruit character.

Tasting Notes:

The aroma is wonderfully rich and expressive, opening with an intense wave of Oloroso sherry, dark raisins, dates and ripe figs alongside bittersweet chocolate and roasted nuts. Layers of mocha, polished oak and orange peel gradually emerge, accompanied by subtle leather, dark honey and warming cinnamon. The palate is powerful and beautifully textured, revealing concentrated dried fruits, rich toffee and dark chocolate alongside roasted walnuts and spiced fruitcake. Aultmore’s naturally elegant malt character provides balance beneath the generous sherry influence, while touches of espresso, black pepper and seasoned oak introduce additional depth. The finish is long, warming and wonderfully indulgent, with lingering dark chocolate, roasted nuts and dried fruits gradually giving way to rich sherry, gentle oak spice and a refined, increasingly dry conclusion.
