Signatory Vintage 2015 Benriach 11 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a richly expressive Speyside release, distilled on 10 February 2015 and bottled on 17 March 2026 after 11 years of maturation. Released as part of Signatory Vintage’s Cask Strength Collection, this whisky was finished in a First Fill Amontillado Sherry Hogshead, Cask #101, adding a distinctly dry, nutty and savoury sherry influence to Benriach’s naturally fruit-forward spirit. Bottled at a powerful 58.4% ABV with an outturn of just 341 bottles, it combines dark chocolate, dried fruits and roasted nuts with firm oak and warming spice. The result is a concentrated and characterful Benriach that showcases the more elegant, structured side of Amontillado sherry maturation.

Benriach, founded in 1898 near Elgin in Speyside, is particularly well known for the versatility of its spirit, producing styles ranging from bright and fruit-driven through to heavily peated expressions. In this bottling, Benriach’s naturally approachable fruit character is given a drier and more structured edge through the First Fill Amontillado finish, creating a whisky defined by roasted nuts, dark fruit, oak and refined sherry character.

Tasting Notes:

The aroma opens with roasted hazelnuts and walnuts, followed by dry oak, subtle sherry richness and a gentle layer of woody spice. With time, hints of raisins, dried orange peel and dark chocolate begin to appear beneath the nuttier elements. The palate is powerful and full-bodied, delivering dark chocolate, raisins and toasted nuts alongside a firm, slightly bitter cask spice that gives the whisky excellent structure. The Amontillado influence brings a distinctly dry and savoury character rather than overt sweetness, with seasoned oak and delicate spice building through the middle. The finish is long, dry and warming, leaving lingering walnut, oak, dark chocolate and restrained sherry notes.
