Michiel Wigman has built a strong reputation amongst whisky collectors for selecting character-driven single casks bottled with minimal intervention. His “Gems of Scotland” series focuses on showcasing unique and often undisclosed distilleries, allowing the whisky itself to take centre stage. These bottlings are typically released in small quantities and have become highly sought after amongst independent bottling enthusiasts.
Tasting Notes:
A beautifully textured Highland malt with layers of salted popcorn, buttered toast and vanilla balanced by waxy richness and gentle coastal minerality. Notes of beeswax, orchard fruits, rosemary and honey unfold alongside subtle earthy and herbal undertones. The palate is oily and complex, carrying rock salt, melon, apple cider and soft oak spice, before leading into a long finish filled with grapefruit zest, ginger warmth and lingering honeyed malt character.
