Aqua Vitae is a Taiwanese independent bottler recognised amongst whisky enthusiasts for its selection of rare and mature single casks from highly regarded Scottish and Japanese distilleries. Its portfolio has included exceptionally aged releases from names such as Laphroaig, Highland Park and Karuizawa, often presented at natural strength with highly distinctive illustrated labels. This 1989 Laphroaig was released under the 龍轉乾坤 series for the Taiwanese market, combining striking presentation with an extraordinarily scarce parcel of mature Islay whisky.

Tasting Notes:
Deep maritime peat smoke and medicinal character emerge alongside dried fruits, dark chocolate and rich sherry influence. Layers of tobacco leaf, old leather and toasted nuts develop with citrus, honey and mature oak, while Laphroaig’s distinctive coastal character brings oily smoke, mineral notes and a savoury edge. The palate is powerful yet beautifully matured, balancing dark fruits and sherried sweetness against earthy peat, charred wood and lingering medicinal complexity. The finish is exceptionally long and warming, leaving waves of smoke, tobacco, dried fruit, old oak and coastal salinity.
